Our family was first introduced to Wibbly Pig about a year ago when K (then 4) began watching episodes of this show on TVO Kids during visits to his grandparents’ house. Being that we don’t have cable TV, watching Wibbly Pig has been a treat reserved for these visits. Until now . . .

Wibbly PigOn November 22, 2011, Wibbly Pig‘s first DVD is being released in Canada and my kids and I had the chance to review it!

Wibbly Pig! Playtime with Wibbly Review:
Both K (age 5) and M (age 2) enjoy watching Wibbly Pig and really seem to connect with this series. I think this attraction is greatly due to the uniqueness of the show: a child’s voice off-screen communicates with Wibbly creating the feeling that Wibbly is conversing with your child (you’d think this would seem kind of fake or weird, but it works). Wibbly does not speak in a baby voice (hooray!), but speaks and works through questions using the tone and vocabulary of a young elementary-school child. Each episode is based on an element of Wibbly’s day and children can relate. I like how, although the show is based on Wibbly’s day-to-day activities, they are not oversimplified and encourage imaginative play. Overall, Wibbly Pig gets my recommendation if you’re looking for an entertaining and fun show for preschoolers.
