To help keep your family safe, every Friday we post a quick summary of products and toys recalled by Health Canada over the past week.
1. Wooden Puzzle Set Recall
The KidConnection 5 Piece Wooden Puzzle Set with Storage Rack has been recalled as small parts of the toy may separate posing a choking hazard. The item can be identified by UPC 834162002998. These puzzles were sold in Canadian Walmart stores from 2009 to February 2012. Return these sets to Walmart Canada stores for a full refund.
2. Step Stool Recall
The EZ Fold Step Stool recall is a precautionary measure resulting from reports of customer misuse. Affected models of this stool were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada: the model numbers are 042-3207 (sold from July 2004-February 2012), 142-6018 and 142-6019 (sold from August 2011-February 2012), 199-1788 (sold from July 2011-February 2012). Return the recalled product to your local Canadian Tire store for a refund.
3. Night Light Recall
This LED Night Light (sold from March 2009-October 2010 by multiple retailers) is being recalled due to an electrical short-circuit that may cause overheating and poses a fire and burn hazard . On the backs of the affected night lights is the AmerTacTM logo, the model number 71190 or 71190A, and the identification code “SY” molded into the plastic. If you have this product, unplug it from your wall socket and contact AmerTac at 1-800-420-7511 for instructions on receiving a full refund.
4. Playground Slide Recall
5. Honda Grass Trimmer Recall
The Honda HHT35 Trimmer has been recalled as the shaft can crack causing the lower gear case and cutting attachment to detach. This poses a danger to both the operator and bystanders. Affected trimmers were sold from August 2006-February 2012 and can be identified by the model number HHT35SUKCT and serial numbers between HAHA1002317 and HAHA1014741 (Okay, totally a side comment here, but those are pretty hilarious identification numbers considering the product was recalled. And yes, I’m one of those people who notices these sorts of things).
If you own one of these trimmers, stop using it and take it to your local Honda Power Equipment dealer for a free inspection and repair. You can also contact Honda Canada at 1-888-9HONDA9 (946-6329).
